Dinh was born and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam. He received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from The University of Tokyo in 2018. His bachelor thesis under the supervision of Prof. Yuki Goto and Prof. Hiroaki Suga was about the discovery and characterization of a substrate-tolerant histidine C-prenyltransferase. Dinh is now co-advised by Prof. van der Donk and Prof. Mitchell, working on leveraging bioinformatics to discover novel RiPP-based natural products and enzyme functions.
