  • Josseline received a B.S. in chemistry from the Universidad Nacional de Ingenieria. After working for two years as a chemical analyst, she accepted a scholarship and moved to Canada to pursue graduate studies. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan under the guidance of Prof. David Palmer where she investigated the bioorganic chemistry of myo-inositol phosphate synthase using synthetic, biocatalytic, and enzymology tools. After completing her degree, she accepted a position at UIUC in the van der Donk lab. Currently, Josseline investigates biosynthetic gene clusters that contain peptide aminoacyl-tRNA ligases as well as those that produce phosphonate-containing natural products.
